Tulasi Kalyanam Celebrations
Utthana Dwadasi day is considered as a very auspicious event in the Hindu calendar. This day falls on Dwadasi, the 12th day of Shukla Pakasha (Bright phase of the moon) during the Karthika masam. On this day, Sri Vrinda, personification of Sri Mahalakshmi got married to Sri Krishna. Legends trace the origin of sacred “Tulasi Plant” as the embodiment of Sri Vrinda. Hindu women worship the Tulasi plant and participate in the Tulasi Kalyanam on Utthana Dwadasi day. There is a strong Hindu belief that devotees that worship the Tulasi plant and participate in the Tulasi Kalyanam on this day are blessed by Sri Mahalakshmi. Goddess Sri Mahalakshmi grants the devotees happiness, wealth and long life for the entire family.
